Integrated Working Products and Processes
Integrated working is where everyone supporting children and young people work together effectively to put the child/young person at the centre, meet their needs and improve their lives. For those volunteers and paid staff who work with vulnerable young people, partnership working with other agencies and practitioners is vitally important. To help facilitate this and to do this effectively, the government has funded a number of products (tools) and processes. This work is being led by the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) who can provide further advice. More detailed information can be found on the integrated working CWDC web pages. In addition, NAVCA has written factsheets for the voluntary and community sector audience >> NAVCA web pages. Example of tools:-Common Assessment FrameworkWhat is it? A standardised approach and shared tool to conduct an assessment of a young person's additional needs What do I need to do? Training on the tool is needed for: 1) vulnerable young people workers/volunteers as they help to meet children's complex and additional needs which this product is in place to help facilitate 2) if you are commissioned to deliver services 3) if you are a lead professional. Skills Development Framework What is it? The Skills Development Framework (SDF) describes the skills and competences needed by everyone working within integrated settings at different levels of the young people's workforce. It is a model to support local employers develop integrated working skills. What do I need to do? The framework can help managers, workforce development staff and trainers to: plan training needs, identify skills gaps, create a personal development plan, contribute content to an in-house competency framework etc. CWDC is seeking feedback regarding current and potential usage and is reviewing the first edition of the framework. The framework is divided in to sections referenced to the QCF levels. If you are not familiar with these, you may wish to use the table on the Direct Gov web site. Back to top |
